Switching from a PC to Mac?

Let your Mac Virtual Assistant help you through the transition!

One of the virtual assistant services we offer is helping clients make the switch to Mac OS X. You will love your new Mac! It is very intuitive as far as user interfaces. Lots of easy drag and drop functions. Almost effortless upkeep. Gorgeous and streamlined looks. Macs, although not virus and hacker proof, are much more resistant to viral invaders than their PC counterparts. That being said, we still encourage our clients to use Anti Virus Protection on their Macs.

Our company uses both PCs and Macs, but it is not necessary to run two machines. You can get a software called Parallels Desktop 3.0 for Mac which will enable you to emulate a Windows OS on your Mac. Parallels is approximately $80.00. You will also need a copy of Vista, XP, or whatever Windows Operating System you prefer.

Many programs are cross platform, and many have Mac/PC versions, so you can take your pick if you run Parallels.

Macs started out years ago as being mostly purchased by graphic designers and artists, but these days, it seems like most students and business people have Macs and most of my own VA colleagues are making the switch too. My own father in law made the switch and he can finally use his own computer now that he has a Mac. He could never figure out the PC!

Compared to our PCs, our Macs run smoother, and are the sure winner on stability, security, ease of use, cool programs, and superior graphic programs. The video/audio is better, and graphics cards on the Mac are superior. There is no comparison to iLife on the PC. It is a comprehensive media suite with iPhoto, iWeb, iMovie, iDVD, and Garage Band.

My suggestion for entrepreneurs is to get a laptop for portability (if you envision needing access to your files while on the road, away from the office, etc). There are many broadband data cards that work with Macs if a Wifi connection is not available during your travels (but cellular is). If you require a bigger monitor while in the office, you can purchase an external monitor and hook it up to your laptop.

Buy the most processor speed and memory (RAM) that your budget allows. This rings true for both PCs and Macs, actually.

You can still join your Windows networks and share files with everyone. As far as wireless goes, todays Macs come Wifi ready so available networks will show up!

When it comes time to move your files from your PC to your new Mac, the easiest thing to do is go to your local Apple Genius Bar or authorized Apple Service Center. The technicians there can effortlessly take care of the transition for you. After their work is done, enjoy your new Mac and the services that a Mac Virtual Assistant can provide to you! Our company can deliver Eco-friendly Mac based administrative assistance and can be there with you every step of the way!
